Talofa lava! So my school started the Summer learning journey 1 day late so I posted the day 2 task before the first day. Anyway the original 1st task was to create a poetry slam. This is where we put a list of a few of our favorite words and add synonyms(Words that have similar or the same meaning) and a image of an example of your chosen words.

This week our main focus for school was the pahurehure inlet and what we could do to make it better in the future. My idea was to send emails and put up posters to tell people that there will be weekly rubbish clean ups on Tuesdays to get rid of the rubbish and mangroves. What do you think would be a good idea to make the inlet better?

The Underdoggs

“Yay first day on the job” Bruno said. He was excited to be working as a Superhero for the Chicago state along with his whole family, His Dad (the chief of Heroes Chicago), his Mum(The whole town's favorite chef), his perfect older siblings(Patric and Lila) and lastly his younger sister Kio. Everyone except for Bruno have worked for the Heroes Chicago since they were 3, even Kio.Bruno couldn’t join because of his biggest fear. On his first day on the job he left the Chicago bank safe unguarded while the “NO HEROES” tribe were in town so ever since then he’s been suspended for 10 years. Until today, today is his thirteenth birthday which means it’s been ten years since his traumatizing experience at the bank. He promised that he would never EVER leave the safe unguarded. It’s 4 in the morning which is patrol time. So the family went to work.

As he’s walking through the streets of Chicago he hears a scream so he automatically flies to the famous Chicago apartments where there was a girl screaming on floor 6 stuck in a fire with her two children. Just as Bruno was flying up to collect them Brunos Dad had already scooped them up and brought them back down to safety. “I’ll get it next time I know it” Bruno mutters to himself. The crew's next stop was the Chicago local police where right there was standing his worst enemy, the “NO HEROES” tribe. Bruno promised himself he would not screw up again. Although he was terrified he flew straight towards them and snatched the poor citizens from the giant evil villains' hard muscled hands. “Good job Bruno” He told himself in his head. As he kept grabbing the citizens his face was tattooed with a smile on it. Lastly his BIGGEST enemy since he could speak, Backpack Burglar. The evilest, meanest villain in Chicago. “Lets go family!” Mum to everyone. As they charge towards him Bruno feels his body being tugged backwards. “Whats going on” Bruno screams intensely.

Bruno’s miserable that he failed the mission again. As he’s being pulled he thinks to himself, “What villain has that superpower?”. Then he realised none of them do. He tried to look backwards to see who was doing this but the pulling device was too powerful. Suddenly he blacks out. (1 hour later) Bruno wakes up after his long nap and slowly begins to open his eyes wider, eventually he wakes up to see that he’s trapped in an old rusty prison cell. He screams for help but all he hears is his own echo. Then suddenly he hears a voice, “Ah finally you’re awake” Said the deep and scary voice. Slowly a shadow starts to appear on the floor, a big and scary shadow. Then the creature slowly creeps out of the shadows. “Hi!” Said a sweet voice. “What? What happened to the big scary monster I just saw in the shadows?”Bruno exclaimed in a confused voice. “Ohhh. I see what you're talking about, the voice that was just to scare you” Said the small human with a giant red box on her back with a suckey thing that's like a vacuum. Bruno collapses to the floor and starts to sob. “Whats wrong” The stange human asks. Bruno shakes his head “I failed again, today was meant to be the day I finally get to fight with my family but now look what happened”. The girl with a vacuum on her back unlocked the cell and brought Bruno to a chair, “So what’s your name anyway?” The girl says, “I’m Clara but everyone calls me shorty the short one”. “Well I guess you’re kinda short” Said Bruno, giving her a weird look. Clara slaps Bruno ,”I may be short but I’m powerful”.

Clara had always been short and under-looked because of that,but she would always stay happy and kind because that’s what her Mum taught her who had passed away three years ago after her Dad left their family. One day she decided she was sick of everyone calling her short, so she turned evil. She named herself the underdogg and ever since she has been trying her hardest to keep evil so she can get the glory she “deserves”. Bruno could tell that ,that’s why she turned evil but didn’t think to ask. The two sat silent for 1 second then Clara asked why Bruno was so sad and Bruno said “I failed my mission as a hero of Chicago I don’t deserve to ever be one again”. “What!? You’re a hero, ew” Clara exclaim with a voice of disgust. “No not anymore I’m not, ever since the first day I screwed up I have been told I was always gonna fail so guess what, I’m taking their advise. From now on I’m not a hero I’m an underdogg” Bruno’s smile re-appeared. Straight away Clara knew that even if he was a hero she wasn’t gonna under-look him like everyone did to her. So Clara took him to the gear room, “Sorry they’re all homemade stuff but they work” Clara said. “Uhm I’m a hero I have powers” Bruno said with a giggle. “This will be fun” They both said, letting out an evil laugh.

Bruno knew everywhere the heroes hid every last thing so the first place they went was to go steal the diamond jewel that had been in the heroes base for 197 years. “Yay good job underdogg buddy, that was easy” Clara said with a smile. The next place Bruno wanted to go was to capture his family but Clara kept refusing. “No Bruno, if we capture your family we would be captured because the other heroes would come” Clara said, being held by Bruno as he flew 300 feet in the sky. “Ugh maybe we could go down and walk” Clara said as she looked down about to throw up. The next place they went was the police station which was where Bruno got captured. He was so happy being the villain so he could be the one who never makes mistakes.They took all the people and locked them up in the cells.”Easy” They both said. Their biggest and final stop was the Headquarters of all the old weapons of the dead Heroes. But just as they creep in they see the traps flying towards they’re face, “Duck!” Clara yelled. They tip-toed the rest of the traps along with some crawling and flying. “I knew we could do it” But one thing they didn’t know was that right behind them was a very angry…”Dad?” Bruno questions. Bruno snatches Clara from the floor and charges out the window.

Should NZ open our borders?

 I strongly believe that NZ should open our borders.We could simply have EVERYONE stay at home for one day and take the saliva test, then we could isolate the people with COVID and we could all carry on with our lives.

Firstly,

Some people isolate themselves alone which may not sound bad but there are actually problems with being alone for that long.Some extraverts that live alone have an extremely hard time being alone for about five months like last year.Some people can die from depression.Childrens learning can also decrease because they have less motivation to do there best because their at home and not in school which helps them to focus on school.

Secondly,

Workers aren’t getting paid very much which is hard because their in Lock down which is very expensive especially for single parents.Because the shops aren’t open it causes some trouble for lots of people to get money.And many people are losing their jobs due to COVID.Also many businesses are closing because they count on tourist to buy their products.

Thirdly,

We should stop other viruses like delta to limit the amount of doctors needed to deal with.We need to have enough space for the COVID cases so that we can stop COVID.

I strongly believe that we should open our borders but after all of NZ has taken the COVID test.It would help with business problems and money.We must open our borders to the countries with less COVID.

This week our topic was cultural significance.We learnt about Samoan,Chinese,Maori and others. My favorite was making the collage of NZ things that all kiwis know about.What different cultures are you?

I'm NZ European, Rarotongan,Dutch and Maori.   

Is Kapa Haka good for us?

 Kapa Haka is used in schools for the students to show their culture and to gain confidence. Kapa Haka was used to welcome,scare,farewell and to show respect to people. Kapa Haka is performed at birthdays,farewells and funerals so special events. Kapa Haka is a Maori word for group dance and is performed in two different ways, Waiata and Haka. Kapa Haka is a way for girls to show their fierceness and bravery and for boys to show their toughness and scariness. I strongly believe that Kapa Haka must be performed in our schools to keep the Maori culture alive.

Firstly,

Kapa Haka is a great example of our culture and our countries past.It also builds confidence and helps kids to believe in themselves and make new connections with other kids in Kapa Haka. For example when kids go to the Rangi Tahi festival or perform at school it builds their confidence by hearing their piers cheering and clapping for them.It also helps some kids at practice to see everyone trying their best and treating everyone like whanau.

Secondly,

Kapa Haka can also help kids to learn more about their culture just like pacifica or Indian dance group. Kapa Haka gets kids motivated to learn more about Kapa Haka and why we perform it in our schools.Sometimes when kids see that at school their enjoying Kapa Haka they go home and ask their parents about Kapa Haka which can inspire them to try their hardest and do their best in Kapa Haka. For example when Whaea Sharlee or Mrs P calls us in for Kapa Haka practice and we perform for the teachers,when we perform it gets us excited and motivated to carry on learning about Kapa Haka.

Thirdly,

Another reason why Kapa Haka is good for us is because it can also help us to make friends who like Kapa Haka as well.Sometimes in school you will find that you and your friends sometimes don’t like the same things as each other but when you join Kapa Haka it is different because you both joined because you enjoy doing Kapa Haka when it’s not compulsory.For example your best friend might not like Kapa Haka but you do so you have to go in with no friends, but in Kapa Haka you see someone else who doesn’t have a friend in Kapa Haka. You can still be friends with your best friend but since you both go to Kapa Haka your friendship would grow so when your best friend isn’t at school you could play with your Kapa Haka friend.

Kapa Haka is a good way for students to make friends and gain their confidence.It helps to also get them fir and tough by doing the haka and doing tough movements.I think Kapa Haka must be in school because it is a good way to learn more about our culture and our ancestors.

 Water slide 

As he slowly steps into the drop machine he feels his head beating out of his head each step he takes getting more intense.His he is telling him to just run away and leave the water park without going on the main thing that he has waited hours in the line just to go on this ride.

The reason I didn't finish this description was because the information of the writing we had to do was to do the few seconds this was happening and in this picture you can see there are no life guards or people so to make it more interesting I decided to add the people in my writing.

Cook Island

Food 

My first culture is Cook Islands,Rarotongan to be precise.One of my favorite foods from the cook Islands is doughnuts,they are like normal doughnuts but without icing and cooked a bit different,they are usually served at markets with other Island food like potato salad or even just chicken and chips. 

Rarotonga 

The island that my family is from is Rarotonga. It is a beautiful part of the pacific islands that holds beautiful oceans and lots of dogs wandering around the streets begging for food.My favorite restaurant in Raro is the palace it is quiet,yum,beautiful its like the islands MC Donald's plus it has heaps of dogs wandering around. It also has heaps of dogs begging you for every little bite of your food and then when your done they beg you to take them home with you.

Do I agree or disagree to be a water bender

No I do not agree that I am a water bender I think that I'm a fire bender because of my personality.

1) I Think that I'm a fire bender because of the description of a fire benders personality.

It says for a water bender I am calm,peaceful and wise which I am not, but for the fire bender it says that they are outgoing,passionate and a social butterfly which I think I am.

2) How would we know for sure that it is 100% accurate results just because of what you like.

There are probably lots of other videos of these same topics that all say different things and different topics.

3) It also says that we possess fiery personality's and like to fight for what we think is right.

Overall I think that I am a fire bender.

 Information report : Rippa rugby

Rippa rugby is a sport that is played with equal group players.There are usually 3 subs , which is were you sit on the side of the field and then when another person needs to sub off they switch tags with the other person.The tags are different colours for each team.The aim of the game is to get the ball to the end of the field.

Rules:

You are not aloud to pass the ball to your team mate otherwise that is called a forwards pass you will have to hand over the ball

if you are a sub your job is to cheer on your team mates

Future writing

 In the future I would like to see change in the way people treat dogs.

Dogs are made for all different reasons for example husky’s are more like snow dogs and some dogs are made for guard dogs/police dogs.When I walk past a stray dog my body fills with compassion,my eyes overflowing with water,my feet stop and my arms reach out to grab the little canine.Many people that are in gangs or that have a bad life get fierce dogs and then cut off their ears and tail and then end up leaving then on the streets in  pain and misery .Lots of dogs end up dying in a tragic way like getting ran over or starving and being murdered. PLEASE HELP DOGS!!!
