Hi my name is Peyton today I'm doing SLJ this activity is called Guardians of the sea so how this works is I have to post if I believe in the taniwha or not and I have to say why I believe in it or not.
I do not believe in the taniwha because sea creatures can not talk and the taniwha would have been on the news cause taniwha's in real life would probably be on the news for eating someone.
Thank you.

Kia Ora Peyton,
ReplyDeleteWell done for completing another SLJ activity, and for sharing with us your thoughts on the Taniwha. You're right, if the Taniwha were real then surely it would have been featured on the news. Although the key feature of mythical creatures is that they are kept a secret. I think the Taniwha plays a vital role in Māori mythology, and is meant to act as a warning signal for enemies. The Pūkana is a physical embodiment of the Taniwha to warn off threats while performing the Kapa haka. So apart from all the things the Taniwha is used to scare us away from, it is important within Māori cultural history. What are your thoughts about the Kapa haka?
I look forward to reading your response soon.
Thanks,
Jordan
